Harry Browne, Grant County Commissioner and Law Center Board member, and Alicia Edwards, also a Grant County Commissioner, wrote an OpEd to the Santa Fe New Mexican that was published on January 30, 2019.

“We applaud Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham’s commitment to end the ongoing waste of time and money called the Gila River diversion and to reallocate the remaining Arizona Water Settlements Act funds to urgently needed water projects in southwestern New Mexico.

These projects will meet local water needs far into the future and could eliminate the need to increase water bills for the mostly low-income residents of Grant County’s mining district by up to $20 per month. We are delighted to have a governor who recognizes the cultural, ecological and economic values of the Gila River and has vowed to help protect it forever.”
