Aquifer Science LLC Water Rights Application

LOCATION: East Mountains of Albuquerque
INITIATION DATE: January 2011
CLIENTS/PARTNERS: Several Neighborhood organizations and scores of individual residents
OPPOSING PARTIES: Aquifer Science, LLC (Vidler Water Co. and its partner Campbell Farming Corp)
STATUS: Ongoing

SUMMARY:

In 2012, the New Mexico State Engineer denied a permit to Aquifer Science, a company seeking water for a luxury development slated for the East Mountains. The State Engineer adopted one of our arguments: there is no more groundwater in the East Mountains to give out. Aquifer Science appealed. NMELC is now in court defending the decision.
