Santolina Proposed Development

If built today, the 90,000-person Santolina development would be the third largest city in New Mexico. It would require nearly 20 million gallons of water per day, at least 20 schools, and two interchanges on I-40. Unfortunately, politicians have approved Santolina’s first level of approvals – despite the fact that developers have failed to show where they will get their water and how they will construct this massive undertaking without cost to Bernalillo taxpayers. We’ve appealed the approvals to state District Court, and have survived numerous attempts by the developer’s attorneys to end our case.

11/05/2018 – Filed a Request to Stay the Board of County Commissioner’s consideration of the Santolina Level B1 draft development agreement. The developer, Western Albuquerque Land Holdings (WALH) has submitted a Draft Development Agreement to the Board
08/16/2017 – Hearing scheduled for August 30th. Board of County Commissioners will consider the Level B.1 Master Plan and our appeal of the CPC’s decision recommending that the BCC approve the incomplete Level B.1 Master Plan.
08/15/2017 – Board of County Commissioners voted 3-1 in favor of letting the development proceed without a water agreement in place. The Board denied our appeal of the County Planning Commission’s June 7th decision recommending that the Board approve the Santolina developers’ request to allow them to proceed without a water agreement in place.
